This quiet suburban house was Tolkien’s home from 1930 to 1937 and the address where he wrote much of The Lord of the Rings. Although it is a private residence and viewed from the street only, standing here connects you directly to the years when he shaped the Shire, its hobbits and the early journeys out into peril.
