Église Saint-Séverin is a dark, intimate Gothic church in the Latin Quarter where spiral columns, gargoyles and stained glass preserve pre-Christian symbols within a Christian shell. Its crooked streets and cemetery traces outside speak of an older, more mysterious Paris just beneath the tourist bustle.
